You close your eyes when you cry. That’s ok. Just don’t keep them closed too long. Things have become beautiful since you last looked. There’s nothing more to cry about.

Everybody wants happiness, nobody wants pain, but you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain.

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.

It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking how did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what. How did he know that?
